5 Ideas For What To Sell On Black Friday Weekend

With Thanksgiving comes one of the biggest selling opportunities we have as business owners: Black Friday Weekend.

It kicks off Friday after Thanksgiving, runs through the weekend, and ends on Cyber Monday (the second-biggest shopping day of the year after Black Friday, and the biggest day for online sales).

It’s never too early to start thinking about what you can offer to take advantage of that 4-day timeframe. You’ll want time to create the offer, warm up your audience, and plan how to promote it. And it’s better to handle that before the chaos of Thanksgiving week.

So the earlier you identify your offer, the better!

But what if you’re stumped on WHAT to actually sell for your Black Friday Weekend offer? That’s what we’ll cover in today’s blog.

Types of Offers

I find it easiest to think of potential offer ideas in 3 scenarios:

Repurpose Existing Products

These ideas use products you’ve already created - so there’s less work involved. It’s a great opportunity to highlight what you already have and reintroduce them to your audience in a fresh way.

  1. Bundle

  2. Flash Sale

  3. Buy-One, Get One Deal

Launch New Products

Think of when you see a “Grand Opening” sign at a new restaurant. There’s usually a special deal those first few days of the restaurant opening because owners want to drum up interest and excitement quickly.

You can do the same thing if you’re launching a new program, digital product, or service to your audience.

  1. Early Bird Discount

  2. Special Payment Plans

  3. Free Gift

——

Let’s go into each idea in more detail.

Repurpose Existing Products

Bundle

What Is It: A bundle is when group multiple related products together and sell them as a package deal (the “bundle”) to create a new price point.

Why Choose This: This is the perfect way to repurpose various digital products and/or replays of virtual trainings focused on a specific topic. You’d sell them together so your buyer gets instant access to all the items. It’s a steal of a deal because the bundle price would give them massive savings versus them buying each product separately.

These are promo graphics of a bundle I used to sell. I combined 5 trainings about Live Video into one ultimate beginners bundle. I recommend between 5-10 items in your bundle.

Flash Sale

What Is It: A Flash Sale is when you offer a large discount on all your products for a limited period of time.

Why Choose This: You can increase short-term sales of a specific product, or do a blanket discount across your entire site. For example, provide a coupon code FLASH30 that gives buyers 30% off any e-book they purchase on your website.

You could even stagger the discount based on:

  • DATE - The biggest discount is on Black Friday and then gradually drops to a lesser discount by Cyber Monday

  • NUMBER OF USES - Limit the number of coupon codes for each discount amount.

Buy One, Get One

What Is It: This is also known as BOGO (or BOGOF) which stands for “Buy One, Get One Free.” Your customers get a free or discounted product when they purchase another product.

Why Choose This: This is similar to a bundle in that you can pair two products together that complement each other. Sell the first product at full price and include a 2nd related product for free (but mention the original value of the 2nd product so customers understand how much they’re saving.)

An interesting idea for course creators is including an additional free license to grant a second person access to their course:

Family Teams offers a second license to those who buy their course.

Launch New Products

Early Bird Discount

What Is It: Offer early bird pricing to encourage people to buy in advance, even if the product isn’t completely ready yet. The discount is usually between 10-25% off the regular price.

Why Choose This: This discount rewards people who are willing to commit early. It works well when you’re unveiling a new digital product, course, program, or live event. Just be clear in your messaging if not all the content will be ready right away.

Early Bird Deals can also be paired with Early Access - those who buy get a sneak peek before anyone else does.

Special Payment Plans

What Is It: For a higher-priced product ($500 or more), offer a limited-time payment plan that lets buyers pay over a longer period than normal.

Why Choose This: Rather than a discount, the incentive for the buyer is that they only have to commit a smaller amount upfront. This is especially useful if you’re launching a multi-month program (like a coaching program) that costs thousands.

So how would you make this special for Black Friday Weekend? Let’s say you would normally only provide two payment options for a $1000 product:

  1. Pay In Full

  2. Three payments of $350/month

For Black Friday Weekend only, buyers get the option for a 6-Pay Plan - six payments of $175/month. This should be positioned as an option you don’t typically offer.

What will you do for Black Friday Weekend?

I hope this got your brainstorming cells going! Out of these 5 ideas, which one will you do? Let me know in the comments!
